The central role of the installer
image
Installers play a key role in the security ecosystem, acting as true intermediaries between end users and manufacturers. Once again, SICUREZZA will offer opportunities to enhance this role, providing space for training updates and exchange of information. We asked AIPS for advance information on the offer it will bring to the fair.

As the security market transforms, so does the role of the installer. Tasked with assessing needs and risks, designing suitable systems from the available tools and space, configuring interconnected equipment, testing, managing and maintaining them, the installer is the link between manufacturers from different sectors and end users, the litmus test that guarantees the effectiveness and reliability of installations.

There is no doubt that in a context of rapid technological advancement, constant efforts are needed to stay abreast of innovations in every field - from fire safety to access control - and, no less important, with ever-changing regulations.

We talked about it with Antonio Avolio, President of AIPS – The Association of Professional Security Installers.

"The continuous technological updates require and expect from installers a constant commitment, without forgetting the knowledge of industry standards. CEI 79-3 of 2012 is currently being revised, so we installers will necessarily have to keep up. The access control sector is also constantly being updated, while the fire maintenance sector is evolving with the Control Decree,” Avolio stated.

"AIPS has always been close to the installers to try to facilitate their task as intermediaries between manufacturer and end customer. Through our services and training sessions, we want to enable installers to keep up with their training properly. After all, in the sector it is also crucial to raise awareness among the end customer, who often lacks the tools to properly understand the technical-financial offer. We have what can only be described as ruthless competition from so-called “plug and play'” devices, but it is necessary today to talk about computer security and cybersecurity by making it clear to the customer that security and protection are only provided by figures such as the professional installer. Technology today makes giant leaps in just a few months. What has certainly taken hold is the issue of IT security and device integration. Constant hacker attacks put networked systems under strain. The installer must be able to assess risks and new technologies. Certainly this will be a central theme at SICUREZZA' .

But the event will also be an opportunity for AIPS to reaffirm its commitment to promoting the inter-association discussion table.

"For our Association ," says Avolio , "it is essential to continue working on the inter-associative project that promoted the drafting of a UNI standard defining the requirements for the professional activity of the designer, installer, and maintainer of alarm, intrusion and robbery, video surveillance, and access control systems. At the end of 2021, this Draft Standard seemed close to publication; instead, it is still in an evaluation phase. That is why we are organising a round table at SICUREZZA, in cooperation with our colleagues from the Inter-Associative Group (AIPS, AIPROS, ANIE SICUREZZA, ASSOSICUREZZA, ICMQ, IMQ, TÜV ITALIA) and our media partner Ethos media, to open a dialogue and take stock of the Draft UNI 1610032 standard'.
