The evolution of fire prevention: technologies and regulations for a growing market
image
The fire prevention sector is constantly evolving, driven by increasingly advanced technologies but also by the regulations in force and the skills required of operators, which are becoming increasingly stringent. Training is an indispensable element and SICUREZZA 2025 places it at the centre of its offer.

The global fire prevention system market is expected to increase from 71.6 billion dollars in 2024 to 97.2 billion dollars by 2029, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.3% from 2024 to 2029 (source: Markets and Markets). This growth is driven by factors such as the rapid development of infrastructure, increasing urbanisation and the increase in the number of fires that occur each year. In addition, increasingly strict government regulations and the adoption of wireless technologies in fire detection systems are contributing to the expansion of the market.

And Italy is no exception. In fact, according to the latest data processed by ANIE Sicurezza, the 2023/2022 change in turnover signals a 12% increase for the fire prevention sector. This is a strategic sector not only for the protection of people and assets, but also for ensuring regulatory compliance and promoting sustainable emergency management.

In this dynamic and challenging context, manufacturing companies are called upon to invest in innovative solutions such as Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT), which are revolutionising detection systems. They must also develop the ability to integrate fire prevention systems with other centralised management platforms and address the application of BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodology to improve system design, management and maintenance.

The importance of continuous training

As the level of complexity increases, so does the need for training, which becomes a key element not only in ensuring the protection of people and buildings but also in guaranteeing occupational safety. In the fire prevention sector, where risks are high and technologies are constantly evolving, updating skills is always essential and all the more so in 2025 since on 25 September, just two months before SICUREZZA 2025, the Control Decree (Ministerial Decree of 1 September 2021) will come into force, with which the legislator has introduced new rules to ensure greater safety and competence in the fire prevention sector.

In particular, the decree establishes that fire prevention maintenance technicians must be qualified through specific training courses and certified by accredited bodies. This means that all operators in the sector must complete these training courses by 25 September, otherwise they will not be qualified to carry out maintenance and control activities. This deadline marks a turning point for the sector and underlines the legislator’s focus on raising safety standards. However, adapting to the new regulations requires a commitment on the part of companies and professionals, who must invest time and resources in training.

SICUREZZA 2025, an opportunity for discussion and growth for all the players in the fire safety sector, will be a chance for the companies involved to better understand how to direct their training activities and find the right tools to carry them out in the most effective way.
