Automation and gates: innovation and sustainability with an eye on design

Home security certainly starts with doors, gates and windows. Thus, it goes without saying that, in increasingly modern and high-performance homes, passive security systems must also adapt to new user requirements, both technological and aesthetic, while maintaining their primary objective.

When it comes to home solutions, innovation, security and design are three elements that have to coexist. This is confirmed by two of the sector's representative companies, both of which have already registered for SICUREZZA 2023, Cardin Elettronica  and Hörmann Italia, who provide a sneak peek into the distinctive elements of their respective proposals for the residential sector.

“Our Research & Development team”, says Chiara Covi, Marketing Manager at Hörmann Italy, “is continuously working to evolve these three aspects, with regard to all markets worldwide. For our residential offering, it is essential that we enhance the aesthetic appeal of our products with a constant eye on international trends, and offer new advantages in terms of technological innovation. As far as security is concerned, being a global group allows us to implement the regulations of the various countries in which we are present at an early stage, and equip our solutions with systems that further increase burglary-proof performance; for example, our garage doors, which have been fitted with certified RC 2 security equipment since 2020, made available after the company implemented the German DIN/TS 18194 directive”.

Development, security and design also drive the mission of Cardin Elettronica, as Alessandro Raiteri, the Company's sales manager tells us, “our offer is based on four key concepts. The first is undoubtedly Security: all our products are designed and targeted to the consumer. We aspire to earn the trust of our end-users by guaranteeing the reliability of our products. The second thing that sets us apart is our Italian style. Cardin is a manufacturing company, so it is vital to always maintain high standards of performance, quality and innovation. In the world of home automation, we are now one of the leading players in the electronic field. And last but not least Design, because we also buy through our eyes. Thinking about innovative, functional and equally beautiful products now plays a key role on the market. Lastly, competition is another distinctive element: there are more than 44 manufacturers in Italy; we must be able to stand out through product quality, but also through a proposal that is both competitive and of value”.

In addition to these aspects, the issues of energy efficiency and sustainability, which are now more crucial than ever, must also be addressed.

“These are essential values for us, as we believe it is now more necessary than ever for companies to move towards a sustainable economic model, no longer tied solely the focus on profit but also on a positive impact on the planet”, says Chiara Covi.

Cardin’s process towards energy efficiency and sustainability”, Raiteri continues, “started many years ago. More than 30 years have passed since we started working with 24 Volt low-voltage technology, a solution that guarantees significant energy savings. Nowadays, this mission applies to all our production phases, ranging from materials and packaging processes to the design of increasingly smart digital solutions. The entire product cycle is made sustainable, everything is simpler and leaner”.

A mission also pursued by Hörmann. “Based on this vision”, Covi concludes, we have long since begun not only to evolve our products in terms of energy performance, but also to orient our production cycle towards processes and best practices that are increasingly respectful of the environment. An example of this is the use of 100% green electricity in all our German plants and branches, thanks to the partnership we have established with Naturstrom, a company that supplies green electricity in Germany and Austria thanks to renewable energy plants”.
