Le Marche, plural: all of Italy in one region

From the sea to the mountains, from art to opera to its travelling theatre festival, MArCHESTORIE, this region presents experiences for every type of traveller at BIT.

Le Marche, a region in the plural form and a plural region. So, “Explore the Marche Region”. The slogan Le Marche brings to BIT this year sums up the essence of a Region that is always a surprise.

“It’s only a few miles from the sea to the mountains. You can experience both while exploring the art of Lorenzo Lotto or going to see an opera at the Macerata Opera and Rossini Opera Festival. A one-of-a-kind event is the MArCHESTORIE, a travelling festival that, in 2021, involved 56 villages staging 431 performances, exploring places, traditions and stories from villages across Le Marche region. And it’s happening again this year in September, even more extensive and consolidated.”

The initial goal of this village promotion strategy has already been achieved: San Ginesio, in the province of Macerata, has been chosen by UNWTO - the United Nations World Tourism Organisation - as the “best tourist village” in Italy, in their list of the Best Tourism Villages.

concludes with an eye to the future: “Le Marche is the only Italian region to boast two nominations for the Italian Capital of Culture 2024: Pesaro and Ascoli Piceno. And Pesaro won that prestigious title with a project that is summed up in the title ‘The Nature of Culture’ and involves a journey shared with the entire landscape of the Pesaro-Urbino province.

The main theme - the relationship between art, environment and technology - ties together urban regeneration, the green economy and social happiness. Pesaro is a capital that knows how to attract interest, seen in the beauty and diversity of its land, home of Rossini and already ‘UNESCO Creative City of Music', and has always been able to combine history, architecture, music and a solid and varied sports tradition.”

All the wonders of Le Marche will be showcased at BIT 2022, held at fieramilanocity from Sunday 10th to Tuesday 12th of April.
